Most Americans believe in the divine. But belief in God or Gods is NOT a requirement for a human to be an American, and therefore a member of the American Religion.
Contrary to the conception of many, Religion does not require a belief in a Supreme Being, a God, or Gods. An Atheist can be an American, a member of a religion, such as Americanism, and many are. But most Americans ARE monotheist (believers in ONE God) and look to this Supreme Being as the source of Human Rights.
